Represents a delivered heat, cast, coil, or similar supplier lot of raw material, together with its mill certificate.
For example, a delivery of steel bars from a mill can be recorded as a Lot so that the material used in production can be traced back to its material grade and supplier. In the Excel template, lots are registered on the Incoming material sheet, where the code column is called Heat.
A Lot records the received quantity, may describe the delivered form and dimension, and can carry the values of the mill certificate.

certificate |
object or null | Mill certificate values, keyed by certificate code. See Mill certificate. | { "carbon": 0.18 } |
Important
code must be unique. Two Lots cannot use the same code, and a Lot cannot use the code of a tool batch, because both are stored as lots.
material and supplier must reference existing records.
Delivered dimension
dimension is stored as free text so that source-system values such as "Ø65" can be preserved.
When the value is a plain number, Pulse also records it as the material thickness (material-thickness, in mm). Use a dot as the decimal separator.
"65" → also recorded as material-thickness = 65
"Ø65" → kept as dimension only
Mill certificate
certificate holds the values of the mill certificate, keyed by certificate code. Pulse provides these codes:
| Code | Measures | Unit |
|---|---|---|
carbon |
Carbon content | % |
manganese |
Manganese content | % |
silicon |
Silicon content | % |
sulphur |
Sulphur content | % |
phosphorus |
Phosphorus content | % |
chromium |
Chromium content | % |
nickel |
Nickel content | % |
molybdenum |
Molybdenum content | % |
tensile-strength |
Tensile strength | MPa |
yield-strength |
Yield strength | MPa |
elongation |
Elongation | % |
incoming-hardness |
Hardness | HB |
- Other codes are refused.
- A certificate is accepted only for a material that is tracked by lot (
lotTrackedistrue). For other materials, a Lot with certificate values is refused. -
certificateDateis optional. If you leave it out, the certificate values are dated withreceivedAt. A Lot without certificate values is read back withcertificateDateset tonull. - The Excel sheet has columns for six of the codes: Carbon, Chromium, Nickel, Tensile strength, Yield strength, and Hardness (
incoming-hardness). To submit the other codes, use the API.
When a Lot is consumed, Pulse carries its certificate values over to the operations that used it, in proportion to how much of the Lot each operation used.
Changing certificate values
Sending certificate again updates only the codes you include. Values for codes you leave out stay as they are, and leaving out certificate keeps all existing values. Certificate values cannot be removed one by one: to remove them, delete the Lot and create it again.
Traceability
A Lot distinguishes one delivered quantity of material from another. For materials tracked by lot, consumption records name the Lot that was used, preserving traceability from the mill through to the operations that used the material.
Rules
- A supplier cannot be deleted while Lots refer to it.

Update a lot
PUT /manufacturing/metal-machining/v1/lots/update
Updates an existing Lot. The Lot must already exist.
An update replaces the Lot's fields. If you leave out form or dimension, it is removed. Certificate values are the exception: see Changing certificate values.
