Pulse asks for permission to send notifications only once in each browser. If you blocked notifications, or closed the prompt without choosing, Pulse does not ask again. To receive notifications, allow them in your browser settings by following the steps below.
Notifications must be allowed at two levels:
- in the browser, for Pulse,
- on the device, for the browser.
If notifications are blocked at either level, Pulse cannot send them.
For more information about how notifications work, see Notifications.
Google Chrome

- Turn on Notifications.
- Reload Pulse.
If Notifications is not shown, allow notifications in the Chrome settings:
- Select the three-dot menu, then Settings.
- Select Privacy and security → Site settings → Notifications.

- Under Block, find the Pulse address, select its three-dot menu, and select Allow.
- Reload Pulse.
Mozilla Firefox
Firefox shows Pulse in its notification settings only after notifications have been allowed or blocked for Pulse once. Follow the steps that match your situation.
Allow notifications for the first time
Use these steps if Firefox has never asked you to allow notifications for Pulse.
- Open Pulse in Firefox.
- Select the shield icon to the left of the address, then select Connection secure.
- Select More site information. The Page Info window opens.
- Select the Permissions tab.
- Under Send notifications, clear Use Default and select Allow.
- Close the window and reload Pulse.
After this, Firefox shows a permissions icon next to the shield. Select it to see that Send notifications is Allowed.
Important
Do not select X next to Allowed. This returns the setting to the default, the permissions icon disappears, and you need to repeat these steps to allow notifications again.
Change notifications that were allowed or blocked before
Once notifications have been allowed or blocked for Pulse, Firefox lists Pulse in its notification settings:
- Select the menu button, then Settings.
- Select Permissions and data and the Notifications. The Notification Permissions window opens.
- Find the Pulse address in the list. You can type it in Search Website.
- Set its Status to Allow, or to Block to stop notifications.
- Select Save changes.
- Reload Pulse.
When notifications are blocked, Firefox shows a crossed-out notification icon to the left of the address.
Safari on Mac
- In Safari, select Safari → Settings.
- Select Websites.
- In the list on the left, select Notifications.
- Find the Pulse address and set it to Allow.
- Reload Pulse.
Chrome on Android
- Open Pulse in Chrome.
- Select the icon to the left of the address.
- Select Permissions, then turn on Notifications.
- Reload Pulse.
If you added Pulse to your home screen, it uses the same Chrome setting.
iPhone
On iPhone, Safari and other browsers cannot receive notifications from Pulse. To receive notifications, add Pulse to your home screen and open it from there:
- Open Pulse in Safari.
- Select Share.
- Select Add to Home Screen.
- Open Pulse from the home screen and sign in.
Pulse on the home screen works as a separate app with its own notification permission, in the same way as a separate browser.
To allow notifications for Pulse on the home screen:
- Open the iPhone Settings.
- Select Notifications.
- Select Pulse.
- Turn on Allow Notifications.
Note
Notifications from home screen apps require iOS 16.4 or later.
Allowing notifications on your device
If notifications are allowed in the browser but still do not arrive, check that the device allows notifications for the browser.
Note
On iPhone, browsers such as Safari and Chrome cannot receive notifications from Pulse, even if notifications are allowed in the device settings. Notifications work only in Pulse added to the home screen. See iPhone.
