Pulse can send push notifications when new information becomes available, such as when a new Conclusion is generated.
Notification permission is controlled entirely by your browser or device. Pulse does not manage a separate notification setting.
Separate settings for each browser and device
Notification permission is stored separately for every browser on every device. Each combination has its own setting, for example:
- Chrome on your phone — notifications enabled,
- Chrome on your desktop — notifications disabled,
- Safari on your phone — notifications disabled.
Allowing or blocking notifications in one browser does not change the setting in any other browser or on any other device.
This is why you may be asked for permission more than once. Each time you use Pulse in a browser or on a device for the first time, that browser asks for permission once.
Granting permission
The browser asks whether you want to allow notifications:
- when you select the sign-in button,
- when you open Pulse from an invitation for the first time and select the button on the welcome screen.
This is a system prompt provided by the browser or device. It appears only once in each browser on each device. After you make your choice, Pulse does not show the prompt again in that browser.
- If you allow notifications, Pulse can send notifications when supported events occur.
- If you deny notifications, you can enable them later from your browser or device settings. See Enabling Notifications.
Important
Push notifications depend on both your browser settings and your device notification settings. If notifications are blocked at either level, Pulse cannot send them.
Notifications on iPhone
On iPhone, Safari and other browsers cannot receive notifications from Pulse. You must add Pulse to your home screen and open it from there. For the steps, see iPhone in Enabling Notifications.
Checking or changing notification status
Open Profile to review the notification status for the browser and device you are currently using. The Notifications section shows:
- Enabled — notifications are allowed in this browser on this device.
- Disabled — notifications are blocked or unavailable in this browser on this device.
The status does not show your settings in other browsers or on other devices. To check those, open Profile in that browser or on that device.
To change the status, update the notification permission in your browser or device settings. For the steps in the most common browsers and devices, see Enabling Notifications.
