The manufacturing domain models represent production in a factory: where work is done, what is made, what it is made from, and what happened during production.
Each Pulse environment uses one domain model. Choose the manufacturing domain model that matches your production:
| Domain model | Suited for | Central production records |
|---|---|---|
| Food & Beverage | Process and packing production, such as dairy, beverages, bakery, meat processing, and prepared foods. | Batches, runs, and lots on production lines |
| Metal & Machining | Discrete production, such as turning, milling, grinding, welding, heat treatment, and subcontracting. | Jobs, routing, and operations at work centres |
Shared entities
Some resources are the same in both manufacturing domain models, for example sites, materials, suppliers, readings, and work orders. These shared entities are documented once, and each domain model's pages link to them where they are used.
API paths
Each domain model has its own base path. Shared entities use a base path of their own, which is the same for both domain models:
| Resources | Base path |
|---|---|
| Food & Beverage | {host}/manufacturing/food-beverage/v1/{resource} |
| Metal & Machining | {host}/manufacturing/metal-machining/v1/{resource} |
| Shared entities | {host}/manufacturing/v1/{resource} |
For example, a Food & Beverage integration registers sites at /manufacturing/v1/sites and production lines at /manufacturing/food-beverage/v1/lines.
Where to start
- Authenticate with the Pulse API.
- Open the overview of your domain model: Food & Beverage or Metal & Machining.
- Send the first API request of your domain model: Food & Beverage or Metal & Machining.
- Register the shared entities your data refers to, together with the domain model's own master data.
