Some resources are the same in every manufacturing domain model. Sites, shifts, suppliers, materials, readings, and work orders, for example, work the same way whether you integrate Food & Beverage or Metal & Machining.
These shared entities are documented once, in this section. The pages of each domain model link here when a model resource refers to a shared entity.
Shared resources
| Area | Resources |
|---|---|
| Master data | Sites, Shifts, Crews, Suppliers, Customers, Materials, Cost lines |
| Definitions and rules | What you measure, What you set, Reason codes, Types |
| Operational data | Readings, Settings |
| Maintenance | Work orders, Parts and labour |
API paths
Shared entities have their own base path, which is the same for every domain model:
{host}/manufacturing/v1/{resource}
Resources that belong to a domain model use that model's base path, for example:
{host}/manufacturing/food-beverage/v1/{resource}
{host}/manufacturing/metal-machining/v1/{resource}
For operations, authentication, and the .NET client, see Shared entities API.
How domain models use shared entities
Each domain model builds on the shared entities and adds what is specific to its industry:
- Model resources refer to shared entities. For example, a production line or a work centre belongs to a site, and a lot comes from a supplier.
- Materials can have extra fields. Each domain model can add its own classifications to materials. These are described on the domain model's pages.
- Some measurement codes are reserved by a domain model for its own results and cannot be registered in What you measure or What you set.
- Readings and settings refer to model resources, such as a machine, a line, or a lot. Which resources they can refer to depends on the domain model.
Order of submission
Submit shared master data first. Model resources refer to sites, materials, suppliers, and customers, so these must exist before the records that use them.
Register what you measure, what you set, reason codes, and types before you submit readings, settings, or other records that use their codes.
Excel templates
Every domain model's Excel template contains sheets for the shared entities, next to the domain model's own sheets. Each domain model's Excel template page describes all of its sheets:
