Pulse uses member lists to control who has access to a tenant and who has a subscription role.
Member lists are available in the following places:
- Members of a tenant — see Tenants and Membership.
- Admin members and Billing members of the subscription — see Subscription and Billing.
All member lists work the same way. Who can manage each list is described on the pages above.
Member list
A member list contains two tabs:
- Members — shows the people who currently belong to the list.
- Pending invitations — shows invitations that have been sent but not yet accepted.
Select the + button to invite a new member.
Adding a member
Adding a member takes place in two steps.
Step 1: Enter the email address
Select + and enter the email address of the person you want to invite.
Pulse checks whether the person already has a Pulse account.
Step 2: Complete the member details
If the person already has a Pulse account, select the role they should have.
If the person does not yet have a Pulse account, enter their:
- first name,
- last name,
- role.
Select Add to send the invitation.
Note
In Admin members and Billing members, the Role field is fixed to the role of the list and cannot be changed.
Editing a member
You can edit an existing member’s first name and last name. In a tenant member list, you can also change the member’s role.
To edit a member:
- Open the member list.
- Select the member you want to edit.
- The member card expands and shows the available actions.
- Select Edit member. A modal opens showing the member’s first name, last name, and a Role field.
- Update the first name or last name as needed.
- In a tenant member list, use the Role dropdown menu to change the role. The field shows the two roles that are not currently assigned to the member.
- Select Save.
After the change is submitted, Pulse shows a toast notification indicating whether the update was successful.
If the update is successful, the changes are shown immediately in the member list.
Removing a member
To remove a member:
- Open the member list.
- Select the member you want to remove.
- The member card expands and shows the available actions.
- Select Remove.
- Pulse asks you to confirm the removal.
- Confirm to remove the member.
The member is removed immediately and no longer appears in the member list.
Pending invitations
After an invitation is sent, the person appears under Pending invitations until the invitation is accepted.
An invitation is valid for 24 hours.
To manage a pending invitation:
- Open the member list and select the Pending invitations tab.
- Select the pending invitation.
- The card expands and shows the available actions: Resend and Cancel.
Resend an invitation
Select Resend to send a new invitation.
Pulse creates a new invitation link that is valid for 24 hours. The previous invitation link becomes invalid.
Cancel an invitation
Select Cancel to revoke a pending invitation. Pulse asks you to confirm the cancellation.
Confirm the cancellation to revoke the invitation.
The invitation becomes invalid immediately and the person is removed from the pending membership list.
Note
If the invited person opens a previous or cancelled invitation link, Pulse informs them that the invitation is no longer valid, and that they should contact the administrator.
Accepting an invitation
The invited person receives an email with an invitation link.
If they already have a Pulse account, they sign in and are redirected to Pulse.
If they do not yet have a Pulse account, Pulse asks them to create a password. After the password is set, they are signed in and redirected to Pulse.
Where the person lands depends on their access:
- A tenant member is redirected to the tenant.
- A person with only the Admin or Billing subscription role and no tenant membership is redirected to Settings → Billing.
Expired invitations
If an invitation is not accepted within 24 hours, it expires and the person is removed from the pending list.
The Admins of the tenant or subscription are notified by email when an invitation expires.
Because the invitation is removed from the pending list once it expires, it can no longer be resent using Resend. An Admin can invite the person again by repeating the member-addition process.
Note
If the invited person opens an expired invitation link, Pulse informs them that the invitation has expired and that they should contact the administrator.
Already used invitations
If a person opens an invitation link that has already been used, Pulse informs them that the invitation has already been accepted.
